I am the 3rd owner of this old truck. In early 2024 I bought it from the estate of the 2nd owner who passed away in his 90's last year. The 1st owner lived in Carnation and commuted to the Everett plant of Boeing. When owner #2 (one town over in Fall City) took the reins in 1999 the truck had 161k miles. This was a 2nd vehicle for owner #2. As such an additional 65k miles were driven in his 25 years of ownership.

Both owners previous to me were old school former US Military personnel and maintained the truck to a high standard. The hand-written detailed logbook kept by owner #2 is a sight to behold.

It runs and drives incredibly well. I was a service advisor for Michael's Toyota 30 years ago in the mid-90's and even back then this would have been an old truck. Can’t say as I remember them being this spunky or freeway capable. Although the thing is nearly 40 years old you don't feel unsafe driving it around. Heck the AC blows ice cubes.

This truck is as straight and un-rusty of an example as it appears. It has always lived in the PacNW. With the exception of the hood the paint is original. Be aware that when looking around the body there are small dings/scratches/imperfections here/there/everywhere. In my opinion the exterior is in fine shape however in person it isn’t quite as spectacular as on your computer screen. The interior is a time warp both in pics and in the flesh. In short this is no show queen rather she is a nicely preserved driver quality vintage vehicle.

The maintenance logbook that was started in 1999 has a lot of entries. The big one details a top-end engine rebuild with a new cylinder head, new timing chain, new water pump, new alternator and new fuel injectors in 2018 roughly 2000 miles ago. As the 2nd owner's health declined, the truck went into storage in 2021.

I woke it up in 2024 a couple months back with a new battery, cap/rotor/plug wires/etc. Fresh 5w/30 synthetic and a WIX oil filter. I bought new Denso spark plugs however the plugs in it looked like new so I did not change them. New front brake pads and hardware went on. I checked and adjusted the front wheel bearings. As a precaution, I replaced both front brake flexible rubber hydraulic lines and the single rear. The rear shocks had been recently replaced with Gabriel units that feature an external coil spring to account for the weight of the Leer canopy.

6/8/2024 I installed new Classic 787 tires. Originally, Toyota offered 195/75r14 with 205/70 as an option. I went with the wider size. Frustratingly, I could not find 205/70 rubber with a vintage white stripe sidewall for a reasonable price. White stripe 195/75 you can get all day long but I just had to have the 205/70. Sorry! All that aside the truck drives very well on these new unstriped units.

For better or worse, I tried my hand at refinishing the wheel centers with Dupli-Color wheel paint from a rattle can. The results are ok I suppose. Perhaps the silver is "too silver" but, meh, its fine. Rest assured the wheels look better than before.

An unidentified genius from the past upgraded the audio system with an oem Toyota radio/CD/cassette player I believe from a mid-late 90's Land Cruiser. If you didn't know it was modified you might think it came from the factory this way. Kind sir/madam... whoever you are... Bravo !!

The list of items that do not work is limited to the windshield washer system. I have done some basic diagnostics and the problem is within the wiper switch on the steering column mounted stalk. The switch (Toyota part number 84310-35190) needs to be repaired or replaced. Also, the washer pump itself has been removed and blocked off. Everything else on the truck functions as it was designed to.

Includes a squeaky clean CarFax report and a whole mess of keys including one for the locks on the canopy windows. Includes the original owner's manual and packet. When I fired it up the 1st time John Denver's greatest hits was playing on the cd... something about a country road. That cd comes with as well as a Mozart cassette. And a ball cap that says "Alaska".

The truck is registered as a "collector vehicle" so the license plate is permanent. A WA State resident will never have to pay a yearly tab fee. Even better you are not legally required to display the front plate.
