The path to paradise
With nothing but a tent and your trusty new NookPhone, life will be a tad rustic to start with. But don’t worry! With a little elbow grease, the island can become somewhere you’re proud to call home. As they say, if you want things just right, there’s really only one option: do it yourself!
Collect DIY Recipes, then gather the materials needed. Craft tools needed for everyday use or outdoor furniture that can improve life for everyone. Decorate the island in all kinds of creative ways, or build bridges, paths, slopes and rivers to fashion the island however you like. It won’t happen overnight, but seeing the results take shape will be oh-so satisfying!
Discover island life
The more, the merrier!
You can’t turn your island into a paradise without others to share it with! Although you’ll only have a few to begin with, more would-be residents will arrive as the island improves. Help them get settled, then lend a hand with tasks, send gifts, arrange photo shoots on the island of Photopia and more, all in the name of friendship!
Better yet, up to eight people registered on one Nintendo Switch can live on the same island, and up to four can enjoy island life simultaneously*. You can also play with up to seven people either locally or online**, travelling to their islands or inviting them to yours. Whether you’re sharing gifts, competing in bug contests or just enjoying each other’s company, there’s always more fun to be had with friends!
Build your island community
A living, breathing world
Seasons change, time passes, residents get on with their day – even when you’re not around, life on your island goes on. Experience every season and all the unique things that each one brings to your new home!
Listen for Tom Nook’s daily announcements telling you what’s currently happening. Time-sensitive events such as special holidays and fishing tournaments come and go, so every sunrise can bring something or someone new to the island. Enjoy each experience while it lasts, then look forward to the next one!

Important notes regarding save data
- This game does not support the Save Data Cloud functionality of Nintendo Switch Online. However, a service to back-up Animal Crossing: New Horizons save data and recover it from the server in the event of console failure, loss or theft is available to Nintendo Switch Online members. - For more information on how to transfer save data and/or move users from one Nintendo Switch console to another, please visit our Support website.
(Note: to transfer save data, you will need to download the Island Transfer Tool from Nintendo eShop as this game does not support save data transfer via the Data Management settings.)

Life on the island may pass in real time, but you can be as active or laid back as you like. Camp under the stars forever, or build a house. Keep the island natural, or build paths and bridges. Become close with a few islanders, or help many new friends settle in. The choice is yours!
The more you do, the more things you’ll discover. Catch wildlife to attract the eye of a friendly curator, gather materials to expand the island’s facilities, or build enough to intrigue even more would-be residents. Even the smallest thing can lead to something much bigger...
Every day something new
As the seasons change, so does the island. Catch a diverse range of bugs and fish all year long, forage for mushrooms, build snowmen, pick flowers, whatever you please. Unique seasonal events like Bunny Day* also take place throughout the year, with special visitors and other activities really livening things up.
Your life in the palm of your hand
Behold, the NookPhone – Nook Inc.’s hottest gadget housing all kinds of apps to make your life easier! Use the Nook Mileage program to inspire you with things to do on the island, store DIY Recipes for crafting, keep track of your wildlife catches with the Critterpedia, create your own custom clothing designs and much, much more.

Don’t just see your new home as a deserted island – think of it as a ball of clay, ready to be shaped as you see fit. Clay...or wood, rock or anything else! Use these materials and more to fashion the tools, furniture and other items needed to turn this blank canvas into the greatest island for miles around!

Eventually, you can turn your hand to construction of bridges and paths to help your islanders get around. Save up enough Nook Miles and you can even reshape the landscape itself: carve rivers, fill in land and even raise or lower clifftops!
Come fly with me
Located at the southern edge of the island, the airport is your gateway to your island. Not only is it where new residents and visitors will arrive, but you can also take trips to far-off lands using special tickets, earned with Nook Miles.
Enjoy tours to islands packed with new materials, flora and fauna for you to bring back home. Travel to Photopia and set up choreographed shoots with your islanders. Or jump on the plane and travel to the islands of your friends, either locally or online**.

Being on an island doesn’t mean you have to be alone – a new life means new friends to share it with! After all, Tom Nook’s Deserted Island Getaway Package has folk signing up in droves, and they all need somewhere to live. Maybe your island will be the one they choose?
Starting with a couple of residents who arrive with you, it’s up to you to create a place that others will want to call home. Improve your island’s reputation by decorating and building, then watch the curious newcomers roll in. Soon enough, you’ll have a paradise packed with friendly faces!
Friends for life
As the Resident Representative, you’re the go-to person for every new islander that arrives. Do your best to make them feel welcome! Everything you do with each resident builds your friendship with them, and they’re sure to repay the favour. From letters and gifts to materials and more, your new friends will always show just how much they appreciate you!
A night under the stars
Create a campsite and you’ll open the door to making even more new friends! You can even use Animal Crossing amiibo cards (sold separately) to invite the characters you specifically want to the campsite. Help them out with some tasks and they might consider moving to the island for good!
A life lived together
Remember, island life is even more fun when you share the experience with friends! A single Nintendo Switch hosts one island and up to eight registered users can live on that island, each with their own home. How you work together to create your island paradise is up to you!
Even better, you can play locally on the same Nintendo Switch with up to four people at the same time*, enjoying events and life around the island together.
Off to distant lands!
With local wireless or online** multiplayer, you’ll discover that your island isn’t the only paradise out there! Head to the airport and take a trip to a friend’s island or invite them to yours instead, with up to eight people able to visit a single island at any one time.

Turn dreams into reality
As part of Lottie’s Paradise Planning team, it’s your job to make dreams come true. Each client has their own vision for the perfect vacation home, and it’s up to you to make it happen.
Pick the island you want to build on, then design everything to create a home that’ll make the client happy. Place furniture to suit the theme, decorate both inside and out, change the season, time of day and more. The more homes you create, the more clients you’ll find are looking for your services!
Facilities are go!
The Paradise Planning island has lots of vacant buildings, all ripe for renovation. When you’re not creating vacation homes, try turning these into dream facilities! Create a restaurant, hospital, school and more, then watch as residents from across the archipelago start making use of them.
Back to your island
Furniture and design techniques gained on the archipelago can also be used on your own island, so experiment with partition walls, counters, pillars, lighting and soundscapes to create your ideal home. You can even eventually remodel the homes of your island residents!
Expand your clientele
Give souvenir chocolates bought from the Paradise Planning shop to your island residents and you’ll soon see them on the archipelago. You can also use Animal Crossing amiibo and amiibo cards (sold separately) to invite your favourite characters to be new clients of Paradise Planning!
