It has been a really hot week so far, too hot for a northerner like me. To avoid melting I have been sharing our swimming pool with Indiana (the dog), not that she's too happy about that. 🐶It would be great to see how everyone else has been working while also trying to keep cool - feel free to post pics in the comment (Keep them LinkedIn friendly). Today, I'm travelling in to London for a couple of meetings. Proper ones, I am even wearing a shirt 🥵 which is a refreshing change from my normal Wednesday WFH attire. On my early morning dog walk, it got me thinking... if you had to meet a recruiter, because you're looking for a job OR you're hiring - there's no other reason to meet us, we're awful people - what would be your meeting setting of choice? The Microsoft community social on Wednesday night was great fun and our best attended yet, was hoping for a bit of evening sun but at least it didn't rain! No agenda, no workshops, no speaker - just a chance to catch up with everyone in the Microsoft Community. Stay all night, stay for an hour, it is completely up to you. The last one we had was a blast and we packed the place out even with stormy weather hitting London that night. It's been a very busy week attending both South Coast Summit - A Microsoft Cloud Technology Conference and #MicrosoftEnvision. As well as learning a lot about #AI and how that will impact the Microsoft landscape, I also got the chance to see some old friends and meet up with loads more people within the industry. Still managed to find time to also get my beard trimmed in between...But my main takeaway is that I'm no longer scared of AI (it's not Skynet!), the opportunities are endless and if it's not already on your radar for hiring, my advice is that you start thinking about it as it really is the future. The annual Cognitive social is not far away (Thursday 21st September) and it would be great to see as many people there as possible!
