Welcome to our Restoration Druid guide for TBC Classic, tailoredfor PvE content. Here, you will learn how all you need to know to playRestoration Druid proficiently. Click the links below to navigate the guideor read this page for a short introduction.
1.
Introduction
Druids are the only class in the game capable of fulling all four roles:tank,healer, ranged DPS, andmelee DPS.
While only tank is considered a top tier spec, Balance brings powerful buffsand debuffs to a raid, Restoration is the most mana-efficient healer and excellentin PvP and small groups, while melee DPS is the only spec in the game that can tankand DPS at maximum efficiency with the same talents.
Restoration Druids are excellent healers that focus on heal over time (HoT)effects. Their multiple instant cast healing spells allow them to do their fullhealing rotation while moving, and they bring multiple support spells, such asInnervate and
Rebirth, both of which are vital inmost raid encounters.
In PvP, Resto Druids are even stronger, thanks to their strong defensive andkiting abilities. With Travel Form to kite and
Dire Bear Formto survive when being focused, Resto Druids are much harder to kill than anyother healer once they get a lot of Resilience, making them a force to bereckoned with in Arenas, the open world, and in battlegrounds.
If you would like to see where Restoration Druids fall in the overall rankingsamong healer specs for both PvE and PvP in TBC Classic, we have created pagesdedicated to explaining what classes and specializations are the best of the bestthrough multiple factors. However, ultimately, you should not let these listsdissuade you from playing what you enjoy.

2.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Excellent movement as you can do most of your healing while moving;
Strong single target healing on a handful of targets with rolling
Lifeblooms;
Useful raid and group buffs, especially if you lack someone with
Improved Mark of the Wild.
Weaknesses
No dedicated area of effect healing spell outside
Tranquility;
Utility brought tends to either be weak or able to be brought by more meta classes;
Burst healing is low when relying on heals over time and Mana sustain is bad when not doing so.
3.
Best Races for Restoration Druids
Unlike other classes, Druids do not have a choice when it comes to race.If you want to go Alliance, you must be Night Elf. If you want to go Horde, youmust be Tauren. Thus, your only choice is which faction you want to choose, whichyou should make based on your guild, friends, or cosmetic and lore preferences.
3.1.
Night Elf
Nature Resistance increases your Nature Resistance by 10.
Quickness increases your Dodge Chance by 1%.
Shadowmeld is an ability that allows you to become stealthedwhile standing still when used, on a 10-second cooldown. This cannot be used incombat.
Wisp Spirit causes you to transform into a wisp upon death,increasing your movement speed by 50% while dead.
Shadowmeld is a powerful ability for PvP which allows you tostealth in a single spot, potentially giving you the opener if you can positionyourself carefully. It also allows you to macro Shadowmeld together with yourfood and water to eat and drink while stealthed, which is especially powerfulin the Arena.
3.2.
Tauren
Cultivation increases your Herbalism skill by 15.
Endurance increases your total health by 5%.
Nature Resistance increases your Nature Resistance by 10.
War Stomp is a 2-minute cooldown that stuns up to 5 enemieswithin 8 yards for 2 seconds, with a 0.5 second cast time.
War Stomp is quite reliable in PvP, often allowing for an emergency
Regrowth cast, but has little PvE uses. The 5% increased healthfrom
Endurance is minor, but useful in all situations. Finally, Taurenshave a larger hitbox (especially males), which grants them a slightly increasedcasting range, but also makes them be hit by enemy abilities more easily.
4.
Best Professions for Restoration Druids
While all professions have their unique benefits, we would recommend PvEfocused players to level Tailoring for the Primal Moonclothset, which provides massive Spell Healing and Spirit bonuses. You will also beable to use the Whitemend Wisdom set bonus, and make use of the clothcooldowns for goldmaking through the expansion.
Leatherworking is a decent alternative if you want to boost yourdamage without swapping your Tailoring specialization, as the Windhawk Armorset works for both. You will also get Drums of Battle, which are an importantconsumable only brought by Leatherworkers.
Enchanting also has significant personal benefits due to exclusivering enchants which will increase your throughput for all of TBC. Alternatively,Engineering has many explosives that will drastically increase yourarea of effect damage, such as the new Super Sapper Charge.
Finally, Alchemy is a good passive goldmaking profession due tothe transmute recipes and the new elixir, potion and transmute masteries, makingit a strong profession on an alt that you do not want to min-max your throughputon.
If you would like to learn more about how your profession of choice can beused to supplement your goldmaking, along with a variety of other means tobolster your income, see our full goldmaking guide linked below:
